Maxine Kay Evers, 72, of Springdale, died Monday, November 2, 2020. She was born January 4, 1948, in Cordell, Oklahoma, to Edgar and Mamie Dyck Schmidt. For the first four years of her life, Maxine and her parents lived in Corn, Oklahoma, then moved to Bessie. She was raised on the farm and helped with cattle, field work, chickens, gardening, and yard work. At the age of 18 she left the farm and traveled to Oklahoma City. There she attended the Oklahoma School of Banking and Business, Rose State College, and Oklahoma State University. On September 3, 1971, she married Terry Evers. She and Terry lived in Oklahoma City and Moore, Oklahoma, before moving to Springdale in 1987. Maxine was a member of Cross Church. She worked for the city of Moore, Oklahoma, for 12 years, 10 as the City Clerk. She retired from Tyson Foods in December of 2012 after 25 years of service. Maxine loved talking about Jesus to those around her. She was a member of the Cross Church Evangelism Explosion team for many years.
Maxine is survived by her husband, Terry; and one daughter, Stacy Leigh Hoffman.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, November 7, at the chapel of Cross Church Springdale. The service will be livestreamed on the Heritage Facebook Page. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
