Sam Clinton Lazenby, III

Sam Clinton Lazenby, III, age 73, of Springdale, died Saturday, April 27, 2019.  He was born January 13, 1946 in Helena, Arkansas, to Sam Clinton, Jr. and Eltha Josephine Hall Lazenby.

Sam graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1969 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering.  He married Brenda Jane Parsons that same year and the couple moved to Pennsylvania where he worked for Bechtel Corporation for eight years.  In 1977, Sam and Brenda returned to Arkansas to farm and raise their family.  He enjoyed gardening and raising animals, but above all was a devoted family man, loving father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Lazenby; three sons, Clint Lazenby and wife Staci, Nathan Lazenby and wife Jordana, all of Springdale, Daniel Lazenby and wife Andrea of Bentonville; five grandchildren, Harrison Lazenby, Noah Lazenby, Lilianna Lazenby, Ethan Lazenby, Jackson Lazenby; and a sister, Nancy Mattox and husband Richard of Collierville, Tennessee.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Eltha Lazenby.

A graveside service was held Wednesday, May 1, at Friendship Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Arkansas Children’s Hospital Northwest.

The family wishes to thank everyone who has taken time to share a comment, memory, or express their condolences.

Brenda and Family: So sorry to read about Sam! I remember how our Moms talked at church about Sam and Doug taking their baby girls and moving them far away from Springdale. We both returned home, didn’t we? You will be in our prayers during this time.

Brenda and Family,
We are so saddened to learn of your loss of Sam. He was a wonderful man, friend, and father to his family.
We will fondly remember all the times spent with your family – especially the times at Lee School and our Scouting years. Sam was always there for us. Take care and treasure the memories.
