Debra Givens “Dee” Spurgeon, 67, of Springdale, died Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville. She was born May 23, 1951 in Memphis, Tennessee to John Warner and Joyce Anne (Thompson) Givens. Dee married John Arthur Spurgeon in October of 1995 in Bossier Parish, Louisiana. He preceded her in death in 2016.
Dee was a retired nurse. She graduated from Memphis Technical High School and then attended Baptist School of Nursing and Blue Cliff College. She was always busy as a hospice volunteer and working with the St. Joseph Food Pantry. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tontitown and the Benton County Master Gardeners. Dee loved traveling Europe, painting at Studio 7, going to the beach and snow skiing.
She is survived by two daughters, Carla Hodges and husband Jeff of Fayetteville, Leigh Collins and husband Jon of Springdale; two grandsons, Mitchell Coburn of Rogers, Spenser Coburn of Fayetteville; a sister, Gwen Brown and husband Matt Franck of Lawrenceville, New Jersey; a great-granddaughter, Charlotte Coburn of Fayetteville; a sister-in-law, Anne Sanders of West Monroe, Louisiana; and a host of wonderful friends.
A committal service was held Friday, September 28, at St. Joseph Cemetery in Tontitown.
