David R. Fisher

David R. Fisher of Springdale, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2019, at the Veterans Health System of the Ozarks in Fayetteville, Arkansas, at the age of 71. David was born September 6, 1947, in Michigan City, Indiana. He was the son of Winford Roy Fisher and Virginia Elizabeth (Reed) Fisher.

David was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth (Clemons) Fisher on September 11, 1967. Mary preceded David in death February 7, 2009. After 42 years of marriage.

David proudly served his country in the United States Army from November 3, 1966 to November 1, 1968.  He received the honorable Purple Heart after being injured while in serving in Vietnam.

David was loved by all who knew him. He took special joy and pride in his three grandchildren and his two great-grandchildren. David loved spending time with family and celebrating holidays, especially Independence Day. David also enjoyed spending time working in his flower garden.

David will be greatly missed by his daughter Dawn M. Fisher; his grandchildren, Ashlie L. (Krueger) Bearden, David J. Hannon, and Deniese N. (Hannon) Manley; two great-grandchildren, Malakai Arberry and Allasandra Arberry, both children of Deniese N. Manley. He is further survived by his sister, Alice (Fisher) Brown along with nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends who will always hold a special place in their hearts for David.

In addition to David’s wife Mary he was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Dianne, Lucille, and Serah, and his brothers, Roy, Charles, James, and Melvin Fisher.

Services were Friday, June 14, at the funeral home with interment with military honors at Fayetteville National Cemetery.
