Avajean Sims

Avajean Bowden Sims, 91, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, died peacefully in her sleep on December 28, 2019. She was born October 13, 1928 in Mena, Arkansas, to the late Jesse and Rosa (Davis) Bowden.
On October 10, 1947, Ava married Keith Sims, who she met at Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway where she had been voted Homecoming Queen of the previous year.
Ava was an avid reader, an accomplished bridge player, a wonderful cook, a loving mother and grandmother, and a member of the Greatest Generation. Throughout her younger years she was known for her lovely and lively dinner parties, her great sense of taste and style, and great recipes.
In her later years she became a world traveler and counted her fondest memory crossing the Atlantic to Europe and back on the SST Concorde seated a few rows from Sir Paul McCartney.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Keith, her parents, and her younger brother, Bill Bowden.
Survivors include her sister, Evalene Camp of San Antonio, Texas; brother, Dwight Bowden of Farmington, New Mexico; sons, Andy Sims and Chris Sims, both of Northwest Arkansas; grandchildren, Chad Sims (Brynn), Cory Sims (Meredith), Mary Beth Dixon (Kevin), and Christopher Sims, all of Northwest Arkansas, Caroline Sims of Denver, Colorado, Ginny Burchard (Adam) of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and great-grandchildren, Henry Sims, Blair Sims, Bradley Dixon, Beau Dixon, Lewis Burchard, Ophelia Fox And Ida Burchard.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home in Springdale, Arkansas.

Loved all my time spent with Ms. AVAJEAN! most memories were my parents dinner parties, socially at the Country Club and her fun and vigorous bridge skills. So sorry for your loss. I’m sure she has a great foursome already playing in Heaven. Prayers and condolences.
